A massive international law enforcement operation has dismantled one of the largest illegal IPTV networks ever discovered. Operation Switch Off involved over 100 officers across 11 Italian cities and 14 countries with 31 suspects identified.

Italian State Police led the investigation with support from Eurojust, Europol, and Interpol. Authorities identified 31 suspects following 29 raids across nations including Spain, Romania, the United Kingdom, Canada, India, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.
The criminal organization captured and resold content from major platforms including Sky, DAZN, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Disney+. Subscriptions to their IPTV services sold for just €10-€12 monthly, causing millions of euros in damages to legitimate rights holders.
Law enforcement achieved several major outcomes:
Investigators found the group used cryptocurrency investments and shell companies to hide illegal proceeds. A SIM farm in Naples with 200+ phone cards was also discovered.

Several industry leaders commented on the results from ‘Operation Switch Off.’ The Chief Operating Officer at DAZN, Ed McCarthy, stated the following:
“Operation Switch Off demonstrates the power of coordinated global action in confronting large-scale piracy networks that damage the entire sports ecosystem. Illegal IPTV services don’t just steal from rights holders – they undermine investment in the sports and entertainment audiences love, and they expose fans to fraud and cyber threats.”
The MPA’s Chief Content Protection Officer and Executive Vice President, Larissa Knapp, also left a statement:
“This case reinforces a reality observed by ACE members worldwide: effective action against IPTV piracy depends on sustained cross-border cooperation and the consistent application of legal and operational tools that match the scale of the harm.”
Operation Switch Off represents one of the most significant IPTV enforcement actions we’ve seen so far in 2026.
This won’t be the last IPTV operation either, as authorities continue targeting these networks while hundreds of new pirate services pop up to replace those taken down.
The cat-and-mouse game between anti-piracy authorities and IPTV operators shows no signs of slowing down in 2026.
